Under Chapter 247, the governance of public water supply districts is vested in elected boards of directors. The statutes provide for five directors, serving staggered terms, each elected from a different sub-district. District directors must be:
- At least 25 years of age
- Reside within the boundaries of the District for at least one year prior to election
- Not be delinquent in the payment of any taxes at the time of election
- Be a resident of the applicable sub-district
Each member is elected to a three-year term.
